Orthopaedic appliances are used in growing patients. They are usually designed to be worn full time to slowly correct jaw posture or widen a narrow arch. By wearing these appliances full time, it utilise the remaining growth of a child to fix orthodontic discrepancies. The aim of the treatment is to prevent the need for more complex orthodontic treatment and/or surgery later in life. The patient’s compliance is essential to this treatment in attaining a successful outcome.
